Turn It Up: The Small Business Big Marketing Show

RedZed’s head of marketing Angelo Klidomitis is a big fan of small business podcasts, and loves sharing his recommendations. This week, he’s reviewed an episode of The Small Business Big Marketing Show, a podcast by marketing expert and speaker Tim “Timbo” Reid.

Episode 438: Dana DiTomaso’s SEO Tips for Small Business (Part 1)

Running Time: 59 minutes

This week, I’m recommending an episode of one of my favourite marketing podcasts, The Small Business Big Marketing Show.

A fantastic Australian podcaster, Tim “Timbo” Reid is a really engaging, enthusiastic host who works incredibly hard to find topics and guests that can genuinely assist the self-employed run their small businesses.

He has released over 450 episodes, which is a testament to both his longevity and commitment to helping small business owners across Australia and beyond.

The episode I have selected today is part one of a two part episode that helps small business owners remove some of the confusion around the often mystifying world of Search Engine Optimisation (SEO).

In this episode, “Timbo” interviews Dana DiTomaso, a world-leading SEO expert and President and Partner at Canadian digital marketing agency Kick Point.

Running almost an hour, this is a relatively long episode compared to some others I recommend, but it is absolutely worth putting in the time to listen.

It’s a great way to get an understanding of how the design of your small business website and the content you include across your pages affects how you are ranked by search engines and represented in their results.

You’ll gain a good insight as to what Google’s algorithms look for when someone searches, and what drives the ordering of search results. Getting this right will increase the organic traffic to your site, which will reduce your reliance on paid search advertising.

Hopefully you find this episode as interesting and insightful as I did. If you do, you should continue straight on with part two. You can find this episode on iTunes and on The Small Business Big Marketing Show website.
