RedZed’s Chris Calvert on customer experience for the self-employed

At RedZed, most of our loans are provided to people in the self-employed sector. Chris Calvert, RedZed’s Executive General Manager – Distribution, recently spoke with the team from Channel 9’s The Rebound about the customer experience we provide to self-employed people seeking a residential or commercial loan.

Far from a small segment, there are approximately 2.5 million self-employed Australians backing themselves, and making a significant contribution to the economy.  Chris explains, “The self-employed want a customer experience that’s productive and efficient so they can get on with what they’re doing best.”

Chris reflects on the days where people visited their local branch and spoke to their bank manager.

“The whole banking model has evolved now. RedZed is very much about delivering that traditional customer service model – that personal service where they know with a high level of assurance that they’ve got their loan and they can get back to doing their day job,” he adds.

Chris points out that the self-employee is time-poor, so a priority for brokers and anyone working with this segment in the loan application process is to understand their specific needs.

He says that buying a house or a commercial property is one of the most important decisions a person can make. “It’s a very sensitive decision. I think to have that human voice to provide that empathy, that assurance, that honest discussion, is so critical,” Chris concludes.
